  1. The problems for health is more than just the sugar. However, in moderation and as intended energy drinks, including Red Bull are not that bad. Red Bull recommends only having 1 to 2 a day. The 2nd larges selling energy drink, also the 1st and largest healthy energy drink, XS Energy, recommends only 1 and no more 2 in a day.

While diet Red Bull does not use sugar it does use Aspartame. This cuts down on the calories but a better choice for a fake sweetener would have been Sucralose.

The thing in energy drinks which causes the most harm when used in excess, as most people do, is the caffeine. Caffeine takes more water to process than caffeinated drinks provide. This means they actually dehydrate us. When we are dehydrated we become tired and lethargic.

If you offset caffeine with extra water then this is not a problem. But since most people drink too much caffeine in coffee, teas, sodas, and envery drinks and not enough water they think they need even more caffeine because they are feeling tired. It is the caffeine doing it and more caffeine is NOT the solution.

Enough water will increase our motabolism and energy by 3%. If people realized this they would not be killing themselvs with caffeine. Once we hit 300 mg of caffeine a day we start to get serious health problems. Immediate ones are headache, sleeplessness, and feeling tired. More advanced problems from long term excess caffeine use end up giving us kidney problems, heart problems, skin problems, and other organs too.

  2. If anything it's worse - out goes the sugar, in come the artificial sweetners (enough said), all the other sh*t stays the same.

Lose the Red Bull and use good old fashioned (natural) coffee to wake you up during the day, or even coke (the drink!) as a social drink/mixer
