I am looking for a used car for my "first car". Right now, I am debating between 3 cars (kind of)... still sort of looking... :)

Can anyone tell me about a 2004 Saturn Ion?

it has 79,000 miles and are asking $7,495.00,

Its a 4 door automatic.

Is this a good car, price... etc?

Thanks....

  1. It's basic transportation.

Price is high for that many miles.

A 2004 Ion package 2 with 30,000 miles should run you under $10K.

Consumer Reports rated the 2004 Ion as 'below average' in overall reliability.  The 2007 is rated much higher.

It you intend to purchase, have an independent mechanic give a good inspection.

  2. price is wayy too high for a saturn with almost 80, price should be around 5500

if i was you i woud look for a used honda civic, accord toyota camry, corolla and nissan sentra, altima< all these cars will last you 10 times longer then any saturn or KIA

  3. There are a few advantages to a Saturn:

    -cheap to repair/fix/insure

    -safe

    -peppy

    -decent mpg

    Now for the bad:

    -poor resale

    -not very reliable

    -cheapo interior

    -poor ride

    -loud motor

-generally dead last in all magazine tests

    -uncomfy seats

    -goofy center cluster gauges

Mileage is kinda high, and the price is about $1000 or so high, less so if it is a higher trim level.  Until the recent addition of some much improved cars, Saturns were kind of a one trick pony.  People so hated bargaining at dealers, that they swooped into Saturn dealerships and bought demonstratably inferior cars at a non-negotiable price.  You would be much, much better off with the newest Accord or Camry you can afford.

  4. i'm not sure about the saturn ion specifaclly but i don't think saturns are very good cars in general. they tend to have a lot of problems. i just recently bought a saturn and had to return it a week later. (it was 1995, so obviously the one your looking at is a lot newer but i was told by many that that's just typical for saturns.) my friend has i think a 2000 or 2001 and it's on it's seeing it's last days.
