Is a Suzuki 400 GN a good starter bike?

I am looking for a good road bike. I'm not very educated on the subject of motorcycles, but I'm very interested in learning. I found a Suzuki 400 GN from 1981 and I'm wondering if it's a good bike choice.

Excellent choice for a first bike. It won't be the fastest thing on the freeway, but that's not what a beginner needs, anyway.

Since it is an old bike, have someone with some motorcycle and mechanical know-how go over the bike (with you) and make sure everything is working and properly adjusted (brakes, tires, suspension).

Pick up a repair manual, and learn how to change your own oil, adjust valves, adjust chain, etc. These bikes are fairly simple mechanically, and are a great to learn on.

not a bad choice for a first bike...not to fast,not to heavy...and the youngns wont pinch it...
