I bought a TI-84 plus silver edition for algebra 1, the school list just says a TI-84 plus but is the silver edition okay for algebra 1 too or will i not be allowed to use it?

P.S. I'm going into 8th grade if that helps.

  1. The silver edition is the more advanced version of the plus.  The silver edition comes with Textbook Math Notation, Spreadsheets, SAT/ACT Test Prep, and 9 times the memory.  I went through Algebra 1 with a scientific calculator just fine, but I wish I'd had the TI-84 silver edition I do now because it makes it easier.

The only reason I can think of that you might not be able to use it is because you can program in formulas, which could be considered cheating on a test.  However, there were people in my Algebra 1 class 3 years ago that had graphing calculators, and my teacher let them use them.

    Hope this helps!

  2. very good choice. im going into geomatry and thats the same one i use. just make sure it has graphing abilities.  :]

  3. that will probably be fine, if you have any worries though, make sure you can take it back

  4. It is exactly the same as the TI-84, except for a little bit more memory.  Yes, your school will accept it, but it seems like overkill for algebra 1

  5. the silver edition is no different from the regular 84+. the only difference is that it has more memory.
