Is a Tarantula poisonus?

Tarantula's have begun to catch my eye, but I heard that some species venoms are poisonus.

Also, any other info you can give me would be good too. I dont plan on getting one anytime soon, Im just curious.

Something else one should always keep in mind when dealing with tarantulas is that just like a bee sting... if you end up being allergic any bite could be deadly. Most people know if they are allergic to a bee sting but not many know if they are allergic to the bite of a tarantula.

I've been bitten several times as I work with lots of tarantulas. It definitely isn't pleasant. I've had bites that cleared up immediately and I've had a couple of bites that got a big bump like a mosquito bite. The thing I can't stand is getting the hairs in my skin. If you have ever sat on a fiberglass bench in a skirt or shorts and it made you really itchy... it feels just like that.
