Is a Yamaha YCL-25 clarinet good for beginners?

  1. Actually, the Yamaha 250 is a great beginner instrument.

    It is definitely not a pro model horn, but it is durable and plays well.  It's also comparable to the other name brands (Buffet, Selmer, LeBlanc, and the sister companies Bundy and Vito- to Selmer and LeBlanc, respectively).  It is about the same quality in craftsmanship and for about the same price.  

    As you start progressing and you upgrade to a better clarinet, you should narrow down your selections to Buffet and Selmer, but the Yamaha will be awesome to start on, and even after you upgrade, the Yamaha should be in great shape for marching band.  

    Make sure to take care of it and get it annual maintenance, and it will last you many years!
