Question:

Is a bandwidth limit of 4 GB a week a decent amount?

I'll be going away to school soon and the internet connection there is limited to 4 GB of bandwidth per week. I generally use the internet just for checking/sending my emails, playing games occasionally, myspace, youtube, IM, etc.... I rarely do any major downloading. I'm assuming that 4 GB should be more than enough for my purposes, but I want to make sure. If I use too much bandwidth and get too many warnings, I'll be cut off from the internet for the semester.

Also, I usually only IM once every couple of weeks, but when I do it often lasts for a few hours. If anyone could give me an estimate of how much bandwidth yahoo IM uses every hour I would greatly appreciate it. (btw, I usually just do plain chatting without voice messaging, but I sometimes use my webcam too, so I would also like to know how much more bandwidth that takes up)

  1. 4 gb of bandwidth will not allow you to be doing games, youtube, myspace, yahoo, or IMing.

  2. Ok 4gb of bandwidth per week is amazing, I only have 7500mb per month and I do a lot of downloading. I wish I had that even for a month because 7500mb per month sucks and 4gb sounds soooooo awesome. I can't even get up to 7500mb in a week. But if it is like mine, the limit doesn't go back to 0 at the beginning of the next week. I have to wait and it will go down gradually.
