Not if it is your entire social life.  However, as a part of your social life there is nothing wrong with spending some time at your local pub/bar/club.

As a matter of fact the local bar as well as the local church used to be the social and political hubs in towns across America and Europe.  Probably on other continents as well.

Depends on your idea of "social".

For a couple drinks after a day at work, a few laughs or an

occasional game of pool it's an OK place.

If you're looking for lasting friendships or lifelong romance.....

nah.

All you usually find in that department at a bar, is someone

who is a compulsive "addict" (could be drugs, gambling,

alcohol or any combination thereof); a lonely person seeking

anonymous meaningless s*x; a bored/boring single parent

who just wants to pretend they have no children or responsi-

bilities; or someone cheating on their spouse.

Nothing that could really qualify as a 'social LIFE' happens

in a barroom.
