Is a blu ray disc better or H D disc??? for movies?

As far as picture quality and sound quality is concerned, HD-DVD was better than Blu-Ray.

However, Blu-Ray discs are cheaper to make and hold more data than HD-DVDs.  So the film companies backed Blu-Ray and HD-DVD bit the dust.  Profits are more important than quality.

This was the same as the VHS / Betamax war with video tapes.  Betamax was the better system, but VHS won.

So, once again, the consumer loses out to big business.

You could have both just to be sure - LG,Panasonic and Toshiba have available players that play both!

Actually HD is better but Toshiba failed to sell it as effectively as Sony sold Blu ray. You can still buy the players (cheaply) and HD movies are very cheap now too as they will cease production soon. However, the players are also great for playing standard dvds which it will upscale better than most players so it still has a little place. Buy a little piece of technological history :)

Blu-ray is alot better can hold up to 50 gigs of storage and its beyond high def. Hd-dvd has lost the format war and has been disconitunes, no more hd movies and no more hd dvd players. All major retail stores has switches to blu-ray format like warner brothers, walmart, bestbuy, and blockbuster

go with blu ray cuz every store only carry blu ray now.

hd lost and they are stop making any hd movies or players.
