i am a little concerned about this! i think it is NOT enough. i mean we are talking about bouquet, flower girl flowers and center peices and other decorations. i mean I think that is a stretch. our budget for the entire wedding is $12,000. I want it to be nice but i do realize it is not the biggest budget! Has anyone had any experience with this kind of thing. I want to stick to $1000 for the flowers, and make it as nice as possible without making things look bare....I like peonies and roses for all the arrangments. Are these flowers expensive in September?

  1. well I'm a wedding planner and the question is are you using real or silk

    flowers.

  2. That's more than enough :) I only spent $300.00 on my flowers because I shopped around and the place I went to have some great ideas for people on a budget. My colors were red so I had red roses and then they bought sewing needles with pearls on the end and they were stuck in the center of the rose and it looked beautiful in the pictures!! You could even think of your own ideas and take in your own materials and ask them the quote for just doing what you want ..a HUGE money saver is not using flowers for the center pieces. People want to see each other across the table anyways and you can have so much fun with being creative ..we had oval bowls filled with red sand and white tea light candles sitting in the sand so when the lights went down for the dance the room looked so romantic because there was candle light everywhere!! :) have fun with it!!

  3. Hi.  That is certainly enough for bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flower girl, etc.

However.....exactly HOW MANY centerpieces are you wanting and "other decorations?"  This is where the budget will be stretched.

I live in a rural area, my son married 2 years ago and I paid for the flowers.  Where I live, two years ago, I paid $4/each for roses.  So....if you are wanting all roses and peonies.....I don't know.

I know that roses ARE in season year round.  I don't know about peonies.

What I advise ALL brides to do.  Go to a few florists.  Give them your ideas.....then see what the prices come out to.  Then, if it's really high.....try to cut down.  Ask what other flowers you can substitute.

You do NOT have to have flowers for centerpieces, unless, of course, you have your heart set on flowers.  You can always go with candles.  I have given this idea to many and wish I would have seen this when my son married two years ago.  It is the most simple, yet elegant centerpiece.....silk rose petals (you could always use fresh) with some votive candles:

The way they have it arranged, you could get by with lots less petals (and candles).  Of course, if you were using round tables, then you would arrange it in a circle.  Easy, elegant and, best of all.....affordable!

    Hope this helps!  Good luck!

  4. I think it is a LOT.

But I'll give you some tips that will make your wedding look much nicer.

    Obviously, you love flowers.

Then get off the florist's seat and let the florist do what he/she does best.

Tell him/her your budget and general preferences.  Do you want a sea of flowers?  Or do you want very particular flowers?

If you go for flowers that are in the season, you will get many more nicer looking flowers.

If one particular flower is a 'must' for you, you may be willing to settle for fewer flowers.

A good florist will tell you the options you have an help you decide.

Secon tip:   1000 is a lot.

Start offering 700 to your florist and let him/her tell you what can be done with that amount of money.   If he/she tells you that you have to make concessions, you can still throw in the extra 300.

If you tell your florist to spend 1000 on flowers, you are sure that the money will be spent - no way the florist is going to say he can do a perfect wedding for much less.

  5. plenty! Shop around for quotes from different florists in your area before arranging anything. I would think you should have some change. And $12 000 for a wedding is a good amount. You shouldn't have to start your new life together with a mountian of debt hanging over your head. Congrats and good luck.

  6. I'm getting married in a week. We budgeted $1000 for the flower and spent $1000. This includes 1 bridal bouquet with a separate toss bouquet, 1 brides maid bouquet, 7 boutonnieres,  2 corsages, 13 centerpieces. We didn't do any decoration for the ceremony because it's in a garden. If you're in a tight budget, try proflowers.com. I have a friend who owns a flower shop in a different state. So I wasn't able to ask her to do my flowers, but I asked her how the pricing is whenever we went to florists for consultation. She actually said she was really surprised by the price in proflowers.com

  7. Make it happen, do your research and use your resources. Shop around. I think you'll be able to pull it off. Good luck!

  8. I spent $650 on flower arrangements from a florist, and I got a bouquet for myself, my bridesmaids, my flower girl's petals, corsages for the mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and stepmother of the groom, boutonnières for the groom, groomsmen, father of the bride, father of the groom, and stepfather of the groom, and a spray for the altar.

Then, I went to Costco, purchased a few pretty rose bouquets, and put out 2-rose, 1-baby's breath arrangements on the guest's tables. Little $1 vases with pretty blue stones in the bottom held these arrangements. At the wedding party's table, I had one large rose bouquet with about 15 roses and some baby's breath in a large rounded vase.

The effect was *very* pretty, delicate, and tasteful! I was extremely happy with the way everything turned out! And I spent less than $800 on everything flower-related.

  9. yes it's definetly enough espicially if youre in America

  10. yes that's enough my daughter is getting married in a couple of weeks she got flowers for her all five brides maids , flowers for 2 moms 1stepmom and a grandmother, all the guys for on there suits for 500 dollars so you go to a place where you can go over all you want  oh she is getting married in sept and has roses in hers kc

  11. Yup. Shop for vases/containers at Costco and then get your roses at the UC Berkeley Rose Garden :)

  12. Also take into consideration if your flowers are in-season or not. A friend of mine recently went to a wedding that was Hawaiin themed... she went all out, and had out of season flowers imported FROM Hawaii and it cost $1500. I guess it depends how extravagant you want to go.

  13. I actually just went to the florist yesterday.. im getting

my bouquet of pink and white roses, gardenias, calla lilys, and stephanoids

my 5 bridesmaids have pink roses and pink and white stargazed lilys

the groom has a calla lily boutineer

the 5 groomsmen have pink rose

the 3 ushers have a white rose

the flower girl has a decorated basket with rose petals inside

the ringbearer has a small rose

the 2 grandfathers have a white rose

the dad has a pink rose and white calla lily

the pastor has a white rose

the 1 grandmother and 2 mothers have orchid corsages

the centerpiece is a candle which is provided with rose petals around it, no floral decorations anywhere (those are provided too)

and just for the necessary flowers for the bridal party and myself came out to a total of $950, although the groom is suppose to pay for half of that, but my side is paying for everything..

so i guess it depends, do you have to pay for everything? and also, mine are real flowers, the silk ones that are cheaper look completely fake, and the silk ones that look real are more expensive than real ones.
