  1. yes, this will deffo work

  2. depends on what part of the system you are talking about

9 speed entails 3 gears on the wheel and 3 on the crank

10 speed entails 5 gears on the wheel and 2 on the crank

the chain is slightly thinner in this system and the wheel may be wider

  3. Ignore Andy T.  He obviously has no idea of what you are referring to.

In theory, since indexing is in the shifters, not the derailleur, a 10 speed campy derailleur should work with a 9 speed drivetrain.   You might have to do a lot of tinkering with the adjustment screws to get it right.  Also a 10 speed chain is narower than a 9 speed chain.  If the chain is not properly engaging in the jockey wheels of the derailleur, you'll need to get some 9 speed jockey wheels.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Yes the derailleur will work. Just need 9 speed shifters which I think you know.

  5. Yes. There was a big break from 8 to 9 speed so not much is compatible. However from 9-10 speed, the same derailleur, rear wheel hub and front derailler should work. Like others said, you still need the 9 speed shifter. The shifters are the same except for the ratchet wheel so you can actually convert them if you just buy a new ratchet wheel.
