I am 12 years old almost 13. I have a cat and a dog, I can keep the bird away from the dog, cat dosen't have front claws.

I am somewhat inroverted but not way shy. I have a fair amount of time on my hands (I do activities 3 days a week for one hour). I don't have any pesky little siblings, only child pretty much. Is a canary right for me, if not is there any other kind of bird that would suit me?

  1. probably not a canary because you cannot tame them (well you can on VERY rare instances) but to me a parakeet or a cockatiel would be good for you. Maybe even a lovebird, you can buy one single, but you have to be its other lovebird because they need so much attention, so keep that in mind. Good luck! Birds are so much fun, I want another bird so badly. I have three parakeets.

  2. i would say a cockatiel (weiro). they are fun, talkative birds with lots of attention needed. i think it would suit your lifestyle perfectly. if not, have a love at conures, they are a little bit more expensive but they are beautiful!

  3. I don't think so.. Canarys are independent, which you can not handle them due to their size. Plus, I would recommend a bird that people can handle. Like a cockatiel or a parakeet. Canarys are beautiful birds, but they are recommened for looking and observing. Also, they can get very stressed with alot of noise. So, get a bird that wounldn't mind alot of noise, and that if fun for the whole family. Good Luck!
