Yes, you can bring food and snacks in your cary-on.  If you want a bottle of water or soda, you need to buy that after you go through security.

you can't bring food or drinks pass security. they won't allow it. you can purchase food and drinks after passing security and are allowed to bring it on the plane after passing security though.

Yes, you can take food onto an air plane. You can even bring drinks, they just test them with a stick while your going through security. I had milk in a sippy for my son and 4 bottles of nutrapals, and I was able to take them from WI to CA with no problems. Look at your airlines website, or call the air port you're leaving out of for a list of things you can take on a plane.
