The whole point of socialism is that no one in is power. Scoff if you like but it can be done.

  1. Hi HD - I would be willing to bet that there are more capitalists in democratic environs than in communistic environs!    So the answer to your question is NO!

  2. Using your definitions, it's an oxymoron.  However, if both philosophies are adhered to in their purest forms, then no, this is not an oxymoron.

  3. Well, I do not have the answer...but I am sure there are some in my GOvernment that could give us a good answer.

  4. It takes money to run a country.  The people support the country by paying into the system.  The system can support itself ONLY if the citizens abide by the regulations & laws.  The large corporate structures have found a way around paying their fair share into the system & that's why so many things are screwed up in America...we have far too many people on ALL economic levels who just aren't paying their fair share of taxes or using the system as it was designed to be used...they are ABUSING it & that hurts us all & they know this.  They are what we call HOMEGROWN TERRORISTS.  Disgruntled US Citizens who are assisting people from other countries to destroy America from within by the destruction of property & senseless waste.  We have become a greed based country over the last 10 years with massive waste & now we are having to deal with all of that leftover waste that is costing a ton of money to deal with & it's a shame we can't ship our waste back to China...where MOST it it was made to begin with!

Basically, if the people pay into the system, the system takes care of the people by allowing them to run their own lives in hopes that more businesses equal more wages & income.  Which in turn equal more taxes being paid into the system so they can do important tasks like building schools & highways & fix street lights & hire Police & Fire personell.  Population growth is having an effect on our country & the rise in crime isn't helping to get those tax dollars into the system...it's taking the dollars away from it & creating a nation of people who seem to be terminally institutionalized with no way to ever become productive members of society again.

  5. I don't think capitalism and democracy necessarily go together.  Your definition of capitalism is closer to today's form of capitalism.  It seems to be all about profits at any cost, or what ever harm is done, or no matter who is hurt.  "He who dies with the most, wins".

  6. You have set up a straw man and have nicely arranged it that you are the only one who can knock it (or anything else) down.  Shame on you.

While I do not necessarily believe that capitalism is the best economic system available, what you have written is only your definition.  Your definition of democracy is also your interpretation.

    Boo to you.

  7. Your from the UK and you say no ones in power - is this right?

How do your people get rich?

Why do you have poor people?

Your people are not carbon copy's of each other.

Why does your country have different pay for different qualifications?

You don't know socialistic government in the truest form.

Do you know or did you get up on the wrong side?

Are you one of a kind in your country?

Until you find something better, I'll be waiting.

    DeeJay.

  8. No.

It's like comparing apples and oranges. One is economic, the other is how elections work.

    Would pure socialism be better?

Socialism: to each what he needs, from each as he can contribute (in the real world, the people in power get what everyone else contributes).

  9. Using the correct definition of capitalist, your statement is not an Oxymoron.

Capitalist: The economic system in which the means of production are owned by private persons, and operated for profit.

Edit; Yeah I know that.  But the reality is a matter of opinion.  You can't be a capitalist and be democratic at the sametime, so in that respect it would be an Oxymoron.

*That is not true about the USA, we do not call educated people in the USA Oxymorons.  There is no just hing as over educated, that is a term people with sour grapes use.  In the USA we are lucky to get as many educated people as possible.
