  1. no

    Highs: Turning circle.

Lows: Acceleration, agility, ride, noise, driving position, front-seat comfort, fit and finish, fuel economy, no ESC.

The Daewoo-produced Aveo delivers unimpressive fuel economy for an economy car, just 25 mpg overall. The 1.6-liter engine delivers rather slow acceleration. Handling lacks agility and confidence, with imprecise steering and lots of body lean. The ride is jittery. Drivers sit high with a good view out, and access is relatively easy. Fit and finish is adequate. The hatchback adds versatility, but the sedan has a roomier trunk. Side air bags are standard. score 36 out 100

Honda Fit is 10 times better.

avoid the toyota Yaris it's unstable and has a noisy overworked engine.

    Honda Fit

Highs: Versatile interior, handling, fuel economy, standard ABS, powertrain, controls, access, turning circle, crash-test results, reliability.

Lows: Choppy ride, road noise, driving position.

Honda's small four-door hatchback offers easy access and good visibility, and has an amazing amount of interior room. The rear seats can be folded flat or the cushion can fold up against the backrest, creating a deep, flat floor that can accommodate bulky or tall items. While not overly powerful, the Fit feels responsive, with a smooth and willing engine, and agile handling. Overall fuel economy is an excellent 34 mpg for the manual and 32 mpg for the automatic. The ride is a bit choppy but supple enough.

" The Fit comes well equipped with standard power accessories, antilock brakes, and curtain air bags. A 2009 redesign has just been introduced."

it's been sold successfully in Europe for years as the Honda Jazz.

  2. People who used to think that Kias and Hyundais were badly built changed their minds after trying the Aveo. You can do better.

  3. Don't buy one new because it'll drop in value like a rock.  As used cars, they're decent values and fairly cheap to insure, but you can get a comparable used Chevy Cobalt, Nissan Sentra, or Hyundai Elantra, which are better cars, for about the same price.  Insurance will be more on the Sentra, though.

GM actually makes some good cars these days, but the Aveo is made in Korea by Daewoo and doesn't have much of a reputation.
