other info: he's on meds for mood disorder as well, and wold not be functioning as well as he is now without the meds and special ed reports from school.

Key point is that without the meds he would NOT be doing well in school/

  1. does the ADHA affect their schooling ?  if it affects the schooling then yes , they can get benefits . if they child can't function in class or has problems in school . call your local school district or social services and they can help you out with services . in california , we have a number 2-1-1 that helps with things like that .

  2. my son is deaf in Left ear, and has ADD,,,,and I did not even try for SSI,,,,,,,I want him to do best he can, without having this on him.......he is now graduating from high school and going to Bible college to be youth pastor.......It was long road,,,,,,but so very worth it!!!

  3. it depends - this is an areay where government funding is being cut with the money still available for those with significant needs in Personal Care, Significant Behavior, significant cognitive delay and/or significant combinations of behaviors that make it difficult or impossible for parents to have any respite without some financial support.

It used to be - many special education diagnosis would get you on a county waiver or SS - now the qualification may depend on the severity of the case.

  4. I have a friend who's son is ADHD and has Asperger's Syndrome and he was just turned down for SS.  There's no law written that you cannot at least try, you never know what will happen.

  5. I have never heard of ADHD alone being considered fro SS-if it were than everybody should get ss if they have diabtets, asthma, epilepsy, allergies, etc.....
