Did changing medication work for you?

I've had a duodenum ulcer for nearly 2 years and while medication keeps it in control, it never gets better. Just good days and bad days. Anyone else been like this and cured themselves?

It was caused by excessive alcohol, poor diet and stress. My alcohol is <20 units/week now and I have less stress and a slightly better diet but no improvement to my ulcer. I feel like I will have it for life or worse, one day it will cause serious problems.

  1. You are not serious about your ulcer: plainly put, it's a crater burning a 'hole' thru the wall of the duodenum. That's serious! So how much 'poison' is good for you? NONE. (For you, alcohol is poison.)

    1) NO alky! NADA, ZILCH!

    2) Limit fast foods. Stop fried, greasy foods. Try Chinese foods. The so-called 'Mediterranean' Diet is really best. One TBLSPN Olive Oil daily on salads or sauteing is good for you.

    3) Stress will get anyone! Find a way to kool it! Just do it!

    4) This is your bod: ruin it, and where will you live?

  2. Have you been tested for H pylori? Are you on NSAIDS/advil/asprin? These two things can contribute to chronic ulcers.

  3. I have Baretts and although ulcers come and go,my sprecialist thinks i inherited a faulty gene.PPI's work,I'd recommed Lanoperazole, omeprazole, and some anti-emetic if vomiting, you really could benefiit from stopping the alcohol completley,i had to and i was on no more than 7 units a week.I've lasted 21 years since first ulcer.
