The girl friend (co-signer) financed a car with her boy friend. They are no longer together and she wants out. Is there anyway she can get out of the contract?

  1. Listen to "bostonianinmo" above.

When you lease, you are just getting into long term RENT (no buyers).

And you are on the hooks as one of the people that they can go after. Why would they let you go.  It is not in their best interest.

    Good Luck...

  2. Maybe she could get the leasing agent to accept the other co-lessee's promise to pay.  But probably the only way that guy GOT the lease was because they relied on your girl friend's credit rating.  She's stuck.

  3. There is no "buyer" in a lease contract.  Both parties remain liable for the full lease term.  The lessor would have to agree to this, but why would they?  They'd be giving up the ability to go after someone should the payments not be made on time.  She can ask, but should be prepared for a firm, "NO!" answer.

  4. Not sure which party you mean by "buyer".  she needs consent of the lessor and cooperation of the lessee.

  5. There is almost zero percent chance the lessor would allow this to happen. Probably less than zero just in concept. NEVER co buy or co-sign or co anything financially!

  6. Your friend can got to the leasing agency and explain why she wants to take her name off the lease. ( she doesn't need to consult with the person she co-signed for) If there is a plausible explanation they might do it. If not, your friend  is going to be just as responsible for the payments as the other party. She can ask to be notified of any payments that are late. If she is not named as a registered owner & only as a co-signer, she will not be responsible in the event of an accident.

  7. I think you mean co-leasee.  I beleive there is no way to get out of this obligation without the others consent and even then it would be doubtful
