Is a compound bow considered a firearm? california bow laws?

I'm 17. I live in california and i want to get a compound bow once i turn 18. What are the laws? The laws dont say anything in particular about bows, just ballistic knives.

  1. No, it isn't a firearm. A firearm is classified as a weapon which uses an explosive (gunpowder) to propel a projectile.

    A bow does not use an explosive of any kind.


  2.   It is not a firearm under California Law, however it is not under primitive hunting season laws either being too advanced. It can be used where only bow hunting is allowed, and is a cool weapon, It takes a lot of practice to get hunting good with it so be ready before you go out most will be covered by the instructor when you get your hunting lic.
