Is a computer science associates degree from a community college pretty much worthless on a job hunt?

  1. No. Depends on what type of job you're looking for. It certainly qualifies you to work on a computer help desk, and those are good jobs. You'll have a better chance of getting one of those jobs if you have some sort of related work experience on your resume, in addition to the degree - an internship, or part-time work at the Apple Store's help desk, or the Geek Squad, or something like that.
