Is a cover letter the same as a introduction letter?

I am applying for a job and it asks for an introduction letter is that the same as a cover letter? If not then what is an introduction letter?

NO.  A cover letter or page has three things on it.  subject name, date and by whom

Introduction letter or page gives a brief summery or discription of subject.

Some companies will take a introduction page as a cover but your high end worth the money companies will not and they will judge and toss based on that.
