  1. Yes you should.  I don't know if it would depend on the make of the vehicle, but vw send me recall reminders for my 98 passat.


  2. Yes all recalls will be taken care of at no charge especially safety recalls or a recall from the (NHTSA) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, other recalls are left up to the manufacturer if they have a limitation and then you would need to call for assistance.

    And if you bought it used then it's possible that they can verify the VIN to see if the vehicle has been serviced for the recall.

    It's less likely that you'll hear about recalls ten years after the car was released because so many mechanical things come into play.
