Is a degree earned abroad transferrable into the US?

If I get a degree or diploma in Canada, will it count in the US?

I heard some lawyers and doctors with extensive degrees from other countries come to the US only to find their degrees mean nothing.

I am trying to study film in Canada... will that affect me?

Most certainly.  In 2004 I studied abroad through CIEE International.  All of my classes transfered to the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo.

It is best if you first check with your advisor to make sure that the classes offered abroad are accepted at your university.
