Is a degree requifed to be a social worker?

I want to be a social worker and want to work in child development but i dont know if i need or what degree i will need to do this.

  2. Ayla there are many things you can do depending on where you live

    A person with no education can become a social worker and a person with a medical degreee can become a social worker- literally.

    Seeing that you want to work in child development, you'll most probably need to specialise in something related to it.

    Contact youre nearest college and ask them. ALso, there are many NGO's that are more than happy to lend you a hand. Contact as many of them and ask them what is required.

To become a professional social worker, you need either a BSW or an MSW.  These degrees will get you a better job as a social worker, and more opportunity to work towards management.  However, you can get a job in a social work field without the specific degree, but you will have much less opportunities/ options for different jobs.
