Is a diploma all you would need to get a job workin with mentally challenged children?

When I was in high school I took a peer tutoring class working with mentally challenged children and I loved it.Me and the children were so attached.We bonded right away.Parents of the children were tellin my teacher that there child would talk about me all the time.Well I'm lookin for a job right now to support my 2 children and I really wanted to start a carrer working with the mentally challenged I have a high school diploma and took a class in high school but did not go to college is there any way I would possibly be able to do this???Thank you

  1. You will need a degree in physcologial development then apply as a school psychologist


  2. There are lots of levels of jobs working with mentally challenged children.  While some would require a college degree or even a masters degree, there are also jobs you'ld be eligible for with a high school diploma.  Be sure to include mention in your cover letter of the high school class you took and the work you did there.
