Is a drug overdose painful?

I was wondering if someone feels pain if they OD off of heroin or some other hard drug, or are they just so high and tripping balls so hard they feel nothing?

Hold your breath for as long as you can. (Don't use any mechanical device)

This is what happens when you overdose on Heroin due to the fact that your entire body slows down and you can no longer breathe. You basically suffocate to death.

If you fatally OD on heroin you pass out, and then stop breathing in your sleep, you will die in this situation if you don't get to a hospital. If you have a low overdose (non-fatal) you will pass out and wake up in a pool of your own sweat and vomit.
