  1. I Live in Arlington, Texas, DFW. I bought a heat pump, 3 feet of insulation in attic, Energy windows, 1100 sf house weatherstripped back door, semi sealed fireplace and my average electric bill since January is $110. Water is around $35. But I don't water yard much.

  2. Yes, that's very high.  Are you leaving all your lights on all the time, running multiple computers and other electrical equipment?  Is your stove electric?  Do you all take really, really long showers or baths?

You could ask the utility company for the amounts of the bills of previous tenants, or ask them to do a check on your house.  If your separate water bill is really high, you may have a leak.

Also, worst case scenario, somebody may be pirating your electricity somehow.

  3. Sure is for living in LA. Ours isnt that much in the winter for living in the Midwest/ Someone needs to start shutting un used lights off!!

Turn the water heater down if all the way up and no long showers cas that cost more not just on the water bill but also to heat it.

  4. I wish mine was only $300 a month....1 story, 2 people.....West Texas....hotter than blue blazes and dry, dry, dry.......My electric bill alone is as much as your combined bill.......I don't even want to talk about the water bill........

  5. That's not bad for CA. I live in San Antonio and that is what mine runs but I live by myself.
