I mean if the weapons were removed. For example if you had the money could you buy a eurofighter or a f22 raptor.

  1. If one were to buy a fighter jet one would have to be trained to be able to fly one hence you would need all of the pre-requisites licenses. And time in that aircraft before they would even think of selling it to you....not to metion you health records.

Anything thta would cause you to black out due to the excessive G's you would be pulling would determine if you could buy one.

Then of course you have insurance issues ... Would they insure an Eagle or Falcon to someone? that i would have no idea but you would have to have somthing.

  2. The company's would not be allowed to sell you one by there respective governments because of the fear that you would resell it to someone they consider to be an enemy.

  3. There are a lot of really sticky legal problems with that. You might be able to if the aircraft were purpose-built without any weapons systems, basically altered so completely that it couldn't be fixed up with weaponry. In the F-22 or Eurfighter's case, it's impossible because the designs are too sensitive. Everything from the planes shape to the construction materials used are too sensitive to risk the plane ending up somewhere it isn't supposed to be. The risk of such an advanced fighter being studied and reverse engineered is too great. It might be possible to get something like an F-16 or even F-15 is it's basically rebuilt with basic avionics and weather radar and without any hardpoints on the wings, but it's still really unlikeley. The truth is that those aircraft would be so expensive and difficult to maintain for a private buyer that there's no point. Especially with MiGs and F-5s on the market. Those older aircraft have plenty of performance for the private user but lower cost and easier maintenance. An extra mach number or slightly higher g-loads really aren't necessary unless you want to go and fight in the plane. Basically, if it's absolete on the battlefield, you're ok, but anything brand new is too important to go selling. If you had several hundred million dollars to pay Lockheed to redesign the F-22 with more basic systems (basically a replica without stealth, weapons, or supercruise) it's a distant possibility but it's still probably just a dream.

  4. Yes, some pilots do own 'de-milled' versions.

You'd better be very rich, and a damned good

    pilot though.

    Those are not toys.

  5. You may not be able to buy the current series of fighters, but the ones which have been taken out from service and are obsolete may be sold without the weapons and other sensitive systems.

  6. Not the two aircraft that you mention. NO!

You can buy and fly older jet fighters. But there are limitations. All weapons must be removed and in most countries you can only fly subsonic. No blowing out the neighbours windows with a low pass. And the aircraft must be registered as 'experimental'. There are different sub-categories under this heading.

But if you can afford it (and very few can) more power to you.

  7. Speaking from the UK. You wouldn't get a modern western fighter but ex soviet stuff like Mig 29's can be bought apparently. As for flying it the CAA who govern what flies in our skies allows stuff like hunters but lightnings weren't allowed which is why the only flying examples are found in South Africa.

This might be of interest to you: Google earth  32 10 09.79n, 110 51 59.63w (Copy and paste the co-ordinates)

  8. You could legally own a fighter jet if it had no weapons fitted.

  9. You can not buy a front line fighter such as a Raptor or a Eurofighter, but you can buy older technology fighters, especially foreign fighters. There is a company in Arizona that refurbishes them and sells them. Operating one is extremely expensive as they are not designed for efficiency but performance. The worst one would be something like SR-72 Blackbirds. The fuel bill for flying the thing would exceed most people's budget!

  10. I know of someone who had an armoured personnel

carrier which had the guns removed,he used to bring

it to work and park it in the lorry park it was ex

british army,so i can`t see why it would not be possible

for you to own a fighter jet that was disarmed.

  11. if you can buy it you can fly it.

  12. Yes but its a bugger to land it on the drive

  13. Yes, but not any current line models.  You cannot buy any American fighter jet, or one like it sold to another country. You can buy Soviet, Eastern European, and Chinese made.

They must be demilitarized before entering this country. (All weapons removed.)  Trainer jets are easier to come by and cheaper.

Now comes the money to buy one. There was a MiG 21 offered in Aero-Trader for $50,000. At one time you could buy MiG 15s for $30,000, or 6 for $20,000 each. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Training, fuel, maintenance and insurance all add up. You don't have to be a pilot to own any aircraft, but it would make an expensive lawn ornament.

  14. YES it is, providing it is not used for domestic purposes, which means that you will not use it for terror....armourment has to be removed and the internal weapons control. It has to be registered with the local authorities and MOD/DOD. Should U be granted this buy, after thorough vetting.
