Is a food processor a good investment?

We do a lot of cooking at home and now that we are cutting out meat, dairy and unprotected oils from our diet, we are doing more cooking at home and using a lot of recipes that require making sauces from tofu, nuts, etc. We do have a blender which can be used but I was wondering if it would be worth it to move up from a blender to a food processor? Do any of you have one and if you do do you use it? I don't want to buy one just so it can be collected with our other non-used items. If you do recommend one, can you recommend a particular brand? Thank you.

  1. Yes!! Dips and sauces are so much better when you make them yourself, because you get to taste test and add more stuff to them as you go

All of these things can be made with a huge variety of ingredients::

    *pesto

    *hummus

    *guacamole

    *salsa

    ***any kind of dip

I like to puree things like kale and spinach to mix in with spaghetti sauce, to add nutrients

  2. A good food processor is a good investment.  When shopping, you don't want just a chopper, but one that has options as to the speed of the blade and the coarseness of the chop.  Since you will be doing a lot of sauces, you may want one with an opening in the top to add ingredients.  Be careful, though! You don't want to pay for features that you are not going to use.  My suggestion would be to go to your local kitchen or restaurant supply store and talk with one of the sales associates and compare models.  Good luck!

  3. I like using mine, it makes fixing foods easier. I got the 11 cup cuisinart(sp??) and dont use it every day, but I use it enough. It cuts everything so easily. To make sauces and other things like that, a food processor gets the job done faster IMO and it is easier to clean out.
