  1. it is if you can find a game where you have the edge and can stay focused to make the right decisions long enough to get whats due you in the long run.

It doesnt really pay all that much per hour though.

  2. You really need to be more specific about what you are asking.

Is gambling for a living profitable: Yes of course as long as you avoid house games and are good at it. I quit being a lawyer because I was making more in a month betting sports and playing poker  than I made in a year as a lawyer at a top firm.

Is owning a casino profitable: Of course. Major corporations don't spend $2-4 billion building one strip casino because they lose money.

Is owning a business that helps gamblers gamble profitable: Of course. People are lazy and stupid. Just check out the small business section of yahoo answers for the number of people looking for get rich quick schemes.  Especially after a movies comes out (Rounders, Two for the Money, 21) you get people who are delusional and want to follow the movie. Providing information, training, picks etc is a very lucrative if sketchy buisnesss.

  3. Yes as a business, esp. in Las Vegas or Nevada for that matter, it is very lucrative.

Casino's come and go. But there are the rich or "high rollers" that can afford to "throw away" their money with very large bets! Sometimes they may win big too!

But, back to your question...On line gambling is profitable to the place holding the  event(s).

Usually all types of gambling has their incentives or "packaged deals" where you get complimentary or free monies on the house to play with or to start your bank roll with. That is sometimes how they get you more interested in gambling at their web site or casino.

They make a lot of money!!! (The rich almost always get richer!!)

    Hope this helps!

  4. Those billion dollar casinos don't pay for themselves...yes it's a very lucrative business, assuming you can get our *(#($#$ government to get out of your way.

  5. a well-managed casino has a NET profit in the 30 - 40% range.  That's extremely healthy.

  6. extremely. look at it this way: nevada doesn't have state tax, and 50% of the casino's income is taxed. the state's wealthy, the casinos are wealthy, etc.

  7. Yes.. but it is also an industry where there are quite large barriers to entry. You need quite alot of money for a serious attempt at even an online casino... and you need a crazy amount of money for a serious bid at building a land based casino..

    good luck

  8. It depends what you mean?

Being a gambler or having a casino ?
