  1. Protein is encoded by the gene.

    Gene is DNA.

  2. The second part is correct; i.e. Gene is a part of DNA strand; more specifically; it is that part of DNA enoding for a protein or RNA .

  3. Gene is not a protein. It's the root of proteins and a part of the DNA strand. It encodes  types of substances that helps creating proteins. Genes include "Introns" which are regions often found in eukaryote genes that are removed in the splicing process (after the DNA is transcribed into RNA): only the "exons" encode the protein.

There are 2 types of genes : Coding gene (exon  part ) determines what the gene produces, while non-coding (intron part) gene can regulate the conditions of gene expression. ALL of them have their own job in creating proteins.

Some germs and viruses only have the "exon" gene in their DNA strand.

Sorry i'm not an English so i guess my words don't go smoothly, hope you can understand it ^^

  4. Gene is DNA.

  6. It's a functional unit of DNA, so it's a part of a DNA strand.  Typically, it is a part of a DNA strand that encodes a protein, but it can also encode a functional piece of RNA, like ribosomal or transfer RNAs.
