Question:

Is a gold crown for your tooth worth any $ when you have it removed?

Just curious. I have one on a molar and am going to have it replaced in the next year with a porcelain one. The cost of the gold crown itself was 400 dollars 15 yrs ago. Rather an odd question, but I was curious. What if I threw it away, and it was worth something! lol Thanks for you for taking time to answer.

  1. It's not worth what you payed for it. You can throw it away once it's removed. I think $2.00 is the going rate for a gold tooth.

  2. No, not really.

Noone's tooth is identical to yours and when you melt that down it's going to shrink and not be worth more then as much gold in gold dust.

What people really have been after for about a decade now are Caps, not Crowns.  Even though this won't sound like it makes sense.. caps can be removed and added whimsically.

  3. The tooth fairy might give you two dollars instead of one. lol

Seriously, I dont think so. Its such a small amount of gold that you'd be lucky to get a quarter for it.

  4. It's time to throw it away are keep it for just what it sound's like it's a keep seak. SMILE! Are tell your kids when they get older this is what grill use to look like.
