  1. Yes. With an iron swing, you want to position yourself more over the ball and swing more downward. With a driver, you want to be setup away from the ball and swing more horizontally.

You also want to hit down on an iron, so it should be positioned further back in your stance, while you want to hit a driver on an upswing, so it's positioned near your front foot.

  2. yes an iron swing is like s*x you want to get as close as possible without being so close it is not comfortable

  3. frankly, it's subjective. But if you mean mechanics, as i understood it. there's no difference. positioning of the ball comes next as each irons and woods differ.

  4. The fundamental mechanics of the swing don't change, but the position of the ball at address does.  With irons you want to make a descending blow, hitting the ball first then taking a divot.  With fairway woods the ball would be positioned forward in your stance so that you just sweep it off the ground, and with the driver positioned even further forward so you catch it a little on the upswing.

  5. Same mechanics..  just different setups and alignments that have to be made..

Reason being..  as the clubs get longer.. your swing arch is also longer..  so.. you have to make the appropriate adjustments in how you stand at address to the ball..

Other than that.. you still maintain the same "One plane" or "Two Plane" or whatever type of swing you use.

As mentioned also.. Driver and woods are more of a sweeping swing.. and irons.. use a decending angle of attack to hit down on the ball ..

When you are in full extension.. the iron clubface will bottom out, past the ball.. creating a divot ahead of the ball...  This is ideal

  6. Technically no.  The woods are longer than the irons.  Ball position will be different for woods and irons.  Everything else is the same.
