My friend wants to get a degree to target a government job, is this wise? He is a non-traditional student returning to school and wants to study Criminal Justice...I think he knows that the pay is low, but he says both the benefits and the job security are great. Is he right?

  1. traditionally yes, if you are talking about job security alone. I just wouldn't count on any of your coworkers to be stable.

  2. He is correct.  The only drawback is that one's salary will tend to be lower when compared to an equivalent job in the civilian sector.
