  1. The only time I do anything for my kids teachers is at Christmas time.  We make homemade ornaments to give to them on gift giving day.  Other than that, teaching my children is their job, it's what they get paid to do (albeit not as well as they should).  I don't feel that gift giving is necessary though.

  2. Hello,

In my opipion your not required to send presents at the end of the year and give what you feel is nessary.

You dont need to do anything, if you feel you need to send seprate presents in then do that but thats alot of money these days.

I say "the group gifts fine" they can put it in the teachers lounge for everyone to enjoy.

  3. I think it's enough.

  4. i think a gift per child. After all they did learn all year!

  5. We gave toward the group gift and also bought a little something for the teacher.

  6. Cards and letters from child are parents are really cherished.  No additional gift needed (or probably wanted).

  7. I'm sorry, I don't agree with 'group gifts' for teachers.  This is putting pressure on families that may not have money to pitch in, leaving those kids out.  Even if you are asking for $2, consider that a family may have more than one child in school and those little $2 donations add up.  It sounds stupid, I know but not every family has money at hand for that.

I think that if a child wants to give their teacher a gift, a small bouquet of flowers is a good idea.  Maybe a home-made card from the child thanking the teacher for something specific (ex:  Thank you for teaching me how to stop mixing up my D's and B's.) as it's more personal.

The biggest thing I stress most about teacher's gifts is to not give them knick knacks.  Every teacher on earth gets a million tree ornaments, picture frames, and little figurines that they could fill a house.  They're useless and a dime a dozen.  Flowers or a Starbucks $5 gift card, a couple movie tickets, something like that is much better.
