DO NOT get one, they are horrible, they stink, make the most annoying sounds. The best rodent is a rat!

I think it's a great idea to get a guinea pig as I have 4 of my own they are no trouble at all just make sure you have plenty of garden space for it to run around and it is a good idea for you to get two as they get very lonely

I recieved a guinea pig as a Christmas gift from my parents a few years ago. They are cute, and they make good pets, but only if you have the time and patience for them. They require a LOT of upkeep, much more than a dog, cat, or hamster. I suggest you do a little research before you make up your mind. Borrow/buy an "owner's manual", surf around the web, or consult your local (reputable!!) pet store. Also, you need to make sure your local vet treats guinea pigs, as some do not. You should prepare yourself for any eventuality.
