Is a guinea pig a rodent?

i was just wondering because i ask a lot of questions and in the category of animals i wanted to make it more specific than other animals so i was just wondering!!

  1. Yes.  It's from a specific group of rodents known as cavies.  There are several other species in the group including the Patagonian cavy and one called the capybara that lives in the Amazon jungle and is the largest rodent currently alive (gets to about 3 feet).

    One of the ways you can tell that they are rodents is by their teeth.  Rodents have large, distinct incisors that grow continuously.


  2. Yes it is a rodent. like mice, rats, beavers,  hamsters, and NOT RABBITS!!! rabbits are lagomorphs!!!

    edit: and like the cabybara it is a 'cavy.'

  3. yes, it is in the rodents section with hamster, gerbil, mouse, rat, etc.

    and a rabbit is not a rodent.  At least, it used to be.
