Is a hard rock "specialized" a good bicycle?

Question

I can buy one for $25 but it has a pedal that slips and the shifting is a little stiff and the tires need to be replaced... should I buy it and take it the a shop and have them do a tune-up on it.

Any bike that you can ride is a good bike.  For $25, you can't do much better.

yes, it is a good bicycle. I was going to suggest going to a rock hopper, but for $25 and used you can't pass that up. It's definitely worth it.

even with a shop bill, that's an awesome bike at $25..

btw, specialized is the manufacturer, hard rock is the model..

Yup its a sweet cool bike and $25 sure is a STEAL---get some bargain 'platform pedals' and nice shifters from Price Point.com, Blue Sky Cycling .com or Jenson USA .com  The bike shop can check the drivetrain, brakes, all the levers,and the wheels.Test drive with no traffic, no pedestrians, and grab a good helmet too!
