The crankcase is noticablly larger on a four stroke. also the exhaust is smaller on a two stroke and would appear real sooty.

The CR80 is a 2 stroke and the XR or CRF80 is a 4 stroke. The 2 stroke CR is liquid cooled and the XR and CRF are air cooled (no radiators).

Honda actually made both a 2-stroke 80, and a 4-stroke 80. They actually stopped making the 2-stroke engines in 2007.

If the lettering on the bike (usually found on the seat, or on the stickers by the gas tank) says CR 80, then it is a 2-stroke.

If it says XL 80,  XR 80, or CRF 80, then it is a 4-stroke.
