Having had horses, I tend to agree with the answer from the  person that is the first person to answer this question.

In generic terms, yes. In horseracing handicapping, No.

A particular "horse" in a given race can be either a :

Horse, Colt, Gelding, Ridgling, Filly, or a Mare.

So a horse may NOT always be a horse................of course.
