  1. It's not really a big deal. Obviously, her pedigree didn't pay off on the track. However, she may still be very valuable for breeding. Also, TB's off the track often make awesome hunter/jumpers.

  2. I dont know because a horse i used to ride was related to secretariat and it wasnt that much of a big deal but then again he is a gelding, if he was a stallion it would have been a bigger deal, and war admiral, idk but i think for breeding purposes i think that it would be a good advantage, you could have expensive babies!

    hope i helped!

  3. I would think so for breeding purposes if not anything else.  To have that kind of lineage, would make her a great prospect to breed.  People like to see those kinds of lines on papers.

  4. if you were to breed yes, expecally because if it is related to War Admiral then it is related to Man O' War. (War Admiral's Dad, Also my fav race horse.) bloodlines is what breeding is all about, since it isnt fast then not racing, people would probably like the thought of having a horse related to Man O' War.

  5. Those breeding's  in the pedigree were so far back that they really don't mean much. The good stuff can be bred out in 4 to 5 generations with bad crosses.  I have a great black mare, a solid paint bred, who is descended from Man O War. I think it is cool that she is, but I doubt there is much of Man O War passed on to her. Here is her picture:

I have some horses that have Smart Little Lena 3 and 4 generations back and since he is on their registration papers, I think that is a big deal.

  6. not really... i went to a camp where i rode a thoroughbred related to man o war... if horses like that were a big deal, they wouldn't be camp horses

  7. Secretariat . If there can be one horse and one race that defines the sport of Thoroughbred racing, the horse would be the world-famous Secretariat and the race would be his win of the 1973 Belmont Stakes. Listed on two Athletes of the Century lists (#35 on ESPN's list and in the Top Ten of Time Magazine's list), Triple Crown winner Secretariat, owned by Meadow Stables, was a true athlete and champion. The world has yet to see another Belmont win of 31 lengths, such as he did in 1973, and there has yet to be a Thoroughbred that breaks his 1973 Kentucky Derby record of 1:59 2/5.

  8. I am an avid horse racing ran and have been raised in the sport all of my life. If the horse has War Admiral in the pedigree, it is very week by now. As great a race horse as Secretariat was, he never produced anything close to his calibur. He did produce Risen Star and Lady's Secret, both Grade 1 winners, but nothing close to his greatness.

  9. IF it is a stallion, it is a big deal.  If it is a gelding, it doesn't matter because he can't pass on anything.  He is just a nice horse that did not make it on the race track and perhaps someone can use him for something else.

  10. well Secretariat was a Huge stud after racing so was War Admrial so that means that there are 100's of horsewith those types of lines.  She was expected to be fast with those lines but its so common now its not that big of a deal. Would probably be a good Hunter jumper or hunter pace horse with Secratariats heart and War's stamina might be good at a disciple besides racing.

  11. unless the horse wins itself it doesn't matter as they only like to breed horses that have proven them self but if they don't won't to much for it you can get it  and see if anyone wishes to have that bloodline.

  12. Not a big deal. Pretty much every thoroughbred is related to someone famous somewhere in their pedigree. Heck, I have a gelding who has 5 ties to Man O' War. Also, you need to remember that those horses are probably pretty far back in her pedigree. If she was a daughter of War Admiral, that would be something. A great-grand daughter? Not overly impressive.

  13. i have a couple of horses that go back to famous racing horses and famous working horses and it is nice to say they are from such and such but it really doesnt mean much because every horse is different.i havent found that the bloodlines will do much except the conformation may be nicer than another horse,my horses are my best friends and co workers and they dont get treated any different than any of my other horses.

  14. It depends how CLOSE to those horses she's related!

Secretariat's sire was a horse named "Bold Ruler", who also sired Seattle Slew, Bold Forbes and a BUNCH of other well known horses.

I can say the same about the secretariat part with 3 out of my 5 horses!  But then it's WAY back there (5th generation on Dam's side.)

It is fun to do research though.  I had acouple of QH who's grandsire was Count Fleet (Triple Crown Winner).  BUT the bottom line is, if the horse couldn't run, then blood doesn't do a darn thing!
