Question:

Is a human life sacred?

You so often (daily) hear of suicide bombers from Islam.

But I saw a program on the public tv station that says the Koran says in several places that life is sacred and forbids suicide. Does the Koran really say this or was the program just Western propaganda?

(quotes would be helpful)

  1. Yes, human life is very sacred. Islam forbids taking your own life, and taking the lives of others. The Muslims who do so(suicide bombers), are taking their culture and religion into their own hands. Some of them FEEL that what they do is righteous, but in Islam, that is not the case. Islam is a religion of peace, and so these acts go against it. Some are radical Islamists, who feel that whatever they want to do is justified by Islam, but is isn't. I hope this answered your question. Take care.

  2. any harm to yourself or anyone else is forbidden in islam, that includes suicide.

there are plenty of suiciders that arent muslim.

  3. The issue is that anything that Muslims do, right or wrong, it is automatically perceived as Islamic. One can't study Islam based on Muslims, as none do not follow its teachings precisely. Some Muslims have began to adopt this idea of suicide bombings because they see it as the only way of defending themselves, or what they claim "fighting the enemy". The Media shows it all from one angle and from one side, this does not mean Islam teaches that people should blow themselves up. Bush goes and bombs the h**l out of Afghanistan and Iraq for liberation, freedom, and fighting terrorism. Bull c**p, everyone knows it was for the oil and only lead to America having an amazingly horrible economy, dead soldiers, and a weaker economy in which "terrorists" can really do their harm. Does that mean Protestant Christians are taught to blow things up?

The Quran clearly shows that human life is sacred.

“…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.” 6:151

“…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.” 5:32

"God commands justice and doing good and giving to relatives. And He forbids indecency and doing wrong and tyranny. He warns you so that hopefully you will pay heed." 16:90

"Do not let your hatred of a people incite you to aggression." 5:2

"And do not let ill-will towards any folk incite you so that you swerve from dealing justly. Be just; that is nearest to heedfulness" 5:8

The media is the last place anyone should get their information, especially about Islam.

    EDIT:

Don't worry, it's not a misspell, but it's a little off pronunciation wise. The closest transliteration of the Arabic word is "Qur'an".

  4. well most of the terorist r "brainwashed" into believing tht they r "sacrifising" their life for the greater good so they do it considering tht htey will make sacrifice for the whole community but they do not noe tht the leaders r using them and tht they r not helping there community but destroying it

  5. God has honored man:

017.070 We have honoured the sons of Adam; provided them with transport on land and sea; given them for sustenance things good and pure; and conferred on them special favours, above a great part of our creation.

Al-Qur'an, 017.070 (Al-Isra [Isra, The Night Journey, Children of Israel])

God forbids killing for no legitimate reason (and that legitimate reason doesn't include suicide bombing!):

006.151 Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

    Al-Qur'an, 006.151 (Al-Anaam [Cattle, Livestock])

    Also:

017.033 Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).

Al-Qur'an, 017.033 (Al-Isra [Isra, The Night Journey, Children of Israel])

Killing a person with no real reason equates to killing the whole of mankind (and the real reason includes killing back (qisas) or killing corruptors (i.e. terrorists), that is, it is only allowed to kill those two types of people but not necessarily recommended):

005.032 On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Al-Qur'an, 005.032 (Al-Maeda [The Table, The Table Spread])

  6. Yes, and even speaks against wanton murder.

  7. Yes human life is sacred according to the Holy Quran!i The Wahhabis distort this point of view by taking innocent lives!i
