  3. I think so. The best animal distance runners are horses and dogs. Most animals would develop hypothermia — heat stroke in humans — after about 10 to 15 kilometers. The Pony Express averaged nine mph over 25 mile stages. A kangaroo can cover a lot of ground - but that is "hopping" not running.

    Even in primitive hunting techniques - the trick is for the hunters to track the animal and keep forcing it to run before it has time to rest and cool down. Because humans are such efficient long-distance runners, they can keep going until the prey is too exhausted to continue. Eventually, the hunter runs up and kills the prey with a spear. This would apply with even the fast animals like antelope and deer.
