I was listening to a song the other day when a line caught my attention. The line was, " At 4:45 coffee drinking eating time jimmy shimmied while I woke up the artist that painted the display." Now I've heard of a peter-built, a mack, a freightliner, and an international but I don't know what a jimmy is. Is it a kind of truck like a peter built jimmy or is it it's own kind of truck? And yes I know what a GMC jimmy is and the song is not talking about a GMC. This is a trucker song and I would just like to know what kind of truck a jimmy is so if anyone can help me it would be great.

  1. A Jimmy is truck driver slang for a GMC Semi. GMC doesn't make semi's anymore, but that's what they were called. ( long before there were SUVs or the new age GMC Jimmy) Just as a peterbuilt is a petercar, a freightliner is a freight shaker, a kenworth is a K whopper , a mack is a bulldog and an international is a corn binder.

If you listen to old truck driving songs you will hear Jimmy used quite a bit. IE: 6 days on the road, says " just past a Jimmy and a White" both of which are road tractors that aren't made anymore.

  2. GMC jimmy, its an suv. its similiar to a chevy blazer

  3. no, it sounds like someone lives with a "jimmy"
