Is a joke email about smoking being a health hazard and a balcony collapsing real?

I received a joke email showing a group of people smoking outside on a balcony. Another person walks towards them, about to join them outside, when suddenly the whole balcony collapses and the people apparently fall down with it. The video looks real to me. My questions are: Did this incident actually occur or is it a "special effect"? If it is real, what are the circumstances?
