  1. Natural Diamond, and Lab Diamond are supposed to be identical, that is Pure Carbon.

However, very few Natural Diamonds are without flaws and / or impurities, so the Natural Diamond may be less than 100% Carbon.

Lab Diamond is usually 100% pure (q.v.).

On the "Hardness Scale" Diamond has a rating of 10.  That applies to Natural and Lab Diamonds.

Be careful, though, not all that is called "Lab Diamond" is really diamond.  There are LOTS AND LOTS of fakes out there.

If it is VERY cheap, compared to Diamonds, it probably isn't.

  2. A diamond is a diamond. It is not possible to distinguish between a natural diamond and a synthetic diamond, and that includes the hardness.

  3. It would have to be to be called a diamond.  It can't have different properties of density and still be called a diamond.
