  1. no, no, it is always considered a midfield position. A forward at the wing area would be useless at his job.

  2. it all really depends on the players positioning and what role/responsibilities he has. a midfield winger will generally act as a link between the defense and the forwards and get back and help the defense when they lose possession. a forward winger is mainly there to stay/break upfield and assist in counter attacking, putting in crosses and scoring goals, so really theres two types

and like others have mentioned it usually depends on the formation. wingers in a 4-3-3 would be considered forwards, while in a 4-4-2 formation they would be considered midfielders

  3. a left wing would be considered a forward if using a 4-3-3 alignment. if using a 4-4-2 you would be considered a striker or a midfielder.

  4. He would be considered a forward so  4-3-3, but like the person above said in same it could be 4-2-2. That's actually a really good question I really had to think about it for minute!

  5. Technically an offensive midfielder that plays close to the edge of the field one example of this is C. Ronaldo..more like a back-up forward..

  6. It depends on the scheme of playing the team has and the player the plays in that position.

For example, Nederlands and Real Madrid player Arjen Robben is a left wing player. For his conditions and way of play I would call him a forward, but Welsh and Manchester United player Ryan Giggs (left wing too) I think is more a midfielder because he plays more supporting the rest of midfielders than getting forward to the rivals goal.

  7. A left wing is determined by your team and your style of play. If your team needs you to play up and make overlapping runs around the forwards then you van be considered an attacking midfield. But you will also need responsibility to come back and play defense if you are required to do that.
