  1. a light year is the distance it takes for light to travel in one year. which planet you planning to travel to?

  2. No. Light years measure distance, specifically the distance light can travel in a standard 365 day year.

The speed of light is a velocity.

The closet star, Alpha Centauri is about 4.8 lightyears away, but anything inside the solar system is well within half a light year.

P.s just to give you an idea of how fast light is: it can go around the earth 7 times in a second.

  3. A light year is 9.4605284 x 10^12 km. Pack a few thousand change of underwear, your gonna need it.

  4. speed of light - 299,792.458 km/s

light year = speed of light x 365

light year = roughly 1,000,000 million kilometres

    Thats a massive distance.

Thats why the glow from the stars we see at night could be many years ago.

  5. both have different units how can they be same

  6. not at all. light year is the distance light travels in a year, or the speed of light times a year. the only reason it would matter in a vacation is if you were vacationing to alpha centari or something.

    make it a good day.
