Is a lot of racism caused by class antagonisms?

My suspicion is that, basically, rich people don't like poor people - their way of life, their habits, tastes, values, dress, appearence, etc. Because class divisions often roughly fall along the same lines as race divisions, people are racist as a result of lack of class-consciousness.

E.g. White people think they don't like Mexicans, whereas in fact it's poor, less privileged people they don't like. But saying "I don't like poor people" makes one look selfish, it's easier for them to say "I don't like Mexicans." But I don't think rich Whites ever had a problem with rich Mexicans.

(Hmmm I hope I expressed that clearly enough.)

  3. elitism is a big problem in mexico its mexico's "racism". yeah rich mexicans dont generally like poor mexicans and poor mexicans cant be seen in good areas of mexico (they're called Nacos any thing u do that is "poor" ur called a naco like eating tacos is "Naco" actually even tho the whole world loves tacos). yeah if a white american met a white-rich-mexican they would most have no problem, or if the mexican is white-middle-class for that matter, cause there are middle class in mexico. its really a good prospective u asked about.
