Is a ludicolo better than a gastrodon in terms of having it in a pokemon team or is gastrodon better?

Yes i think Lucario is definitely better than gastrodon.

They both have about the same stats.  I think you are better off with ludicolo.  Either one you choose, just make sure that it knows Ice Beam. That's critical.  But there are better water types, like ferlagatiar, gyarrados, swampert, etc.  That's all I have to offer.
